Serving suggestions

1. Remove the Smoked Gouda cheese from the refrigerator and allow it to come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. This will enhance its flavor and texture.

2. Once the cheese has reached room temperature, you can serve it as is or choose to enhance its taste by pairing it with complementary ingredients. Smoked Gouda pairs well with fruits such as apples, pears, or grapes. You can also serve it with crackers, crusty bread, or sliced baguette for a delightful combination.

3. If you prefer a warm and melty experience, you can melt Smoked Gouda cheese over grilled sandwiches, burgers, or in dishes such as macaroni and cheese. Simply grate or slice the cheese and add it to your desired recipe. It will melt beautifully and add a smoky, creamy flavor to your dishes.

4. Store any leftover Smoked Gouda cheese properly by wrapping it tightly in plastic wrap or placing it in an airtight container. Keep it refrigerated to maintain its freshness and flavor.

FAQ:

What are the white spots on my smoked gouda cheese?

It’s likely that the white substance on the outside of your cheese is calcium lactate. Calcium lactate is common in aged cheese. It is basically a natural calcium buildup that occurs over time during the aging process, and it sometimes will become visible on the surface of the cheese. Don’t worry – it is completely natural and safe to eat!  If you don’t like the look of it, simple scrape off with a knife.

Wine pairing suggestions

Pairing The Right Wine with Smoked Gouda Can Create A Magical Experience

Many red wines hold up perfectly to Smoked Gouda. The most robust and flavorful red wines will complement Smoked Gouda’s richness.   Look for wines like Pinot Noir, Merlot, Californian Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, and Syrah. Arguably, the best pairing would be a leathery Australian Shiraz.

Smoked Gouda goes well with aromatic white wines like Gewürztraminer, Riesling, and Chenin blanc. When choosing these wines, look for varieties that are semi-sweet. The light sweetness of the wine will perfectly complement the cheese’s smoky flavor.

Rich whites will also pair well with smoked Gouda. Oaked wines like chardonnay and Pinot Blanc will work well with the creaminess of the cheese. Oaked Chardonnay’s full body and buttery oakiness will mix perfectly with smoked Gouda.

Joseph fell in love with Gouda cheese since he tasted it here. It’s just made perfect here.

  2. Doug

I’m a cheese lover and like to find independent producers. I tried this because it’s locally sourced.

First impression: The package is good quality, air-tight and rustic. Opening the package was met with a burst of very pleasing smokiness.

Colour and Texture: Perfect golden hue. Firm yet smooth to handle and bite.

Taste: Deep and consistent smokiness balanced with gouda’s creaminess and subtle sweet undertone.

Overall, a gem of a find at a very reasonable price. I will be back—a must-try.
